Freedom Plan available online and for purchase in print

Carroll County Times

Carroll County Government announced this week the finalized 2018 Freedom Community Comprehensive Plan is now available to the public — online and in print.

In efforts to get a timely update to the 2001 document before former District 4 and 5 Commissioners, Richard Rothschild and Doug Howard, left office in December, the Board of County Commissioners took the Freedom Plan — the 10-year master plan for the Freedom Area — from the Planning and Zoning Commission in late August.

Once they took the plan back, commissioners held a public hearing in early October, and made some density and definition changes, before approving it on Oct. 10.

Interested citizens can access the Freedom Plan and map for free on the Carroll County Government Department of Planning website, or www.freedomareaplan.org, and printed plans can be purchased for $20.

The poster map is also available for an additional $8.50, and both hard copies are available for purchase in the Department of Planning at 225 N. Center St., Westminster, in Room 106 for pick-up during office hours.

County staff has requested copies of the plan be limited to one per household. Citizens can also view a copy of the plan and map at each of the Carroll County Public Library branches.

For more information or questions regarding the plan, contact the Department of Planning at ccplanning@carrollcountymd.gov or 410-386-5145.
