Academy Award winner part of free French film series on campus

The annual French film series presented by McDaniel College and the college's foreign languages department continues Thursday, Sept. 19, with "Amour."

A discussion led by Diane Martin, academic director of McDaniel's master's degree program in gerontology, will follow the free screening, which is open to the public.

Movie begins at 6 p.m. in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science, 2 College Hill, on the Westminster campus.

The critically acclaimed 127-minute film won the Golden Palm Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for five Academy Awards and won the 2012 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It stars Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva.

It is the story of a couple, both retired music teachers, adjusting after the wife suffers a stroke that leaves her paralyzed on one side and bedridden.
