Parkville man dies from injuries in Anne Arundel motorcycle accident

Anne Arundel County Police say a Parkville man injured in a motorcycle accident in Annapolis on June 8 has died, while a passenger on the motorcycle is recovering.

County police they were told June 29 that John Harvey, 56, of Parkville, died as a result of his injuries from the crash, which took place at about 2:45 p.m. June 8 on Hillsmere Drive near Magnolia Lane.

Police say the 2002 Honda motorcycle with temporary tags had traveling northbound on Hillsmere Drive. As it came to a curve, the driver failed to control it, and the motorcycle left the road into a grass median, then struck a tree, police said.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The passenger was released after a brief recovery, but Harvey remained in critical condition, and police said the Chief Medical Examiner informed them late last week of his death.

Police said speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. Harvey was not wearing an approved motorcycle helmet, police said. Police said anyone with additional information may call 410-222-8573.
