Forecast: Partly sunny, high 87; tropical storm warning

The National Weather Service was calling for Friday to be partly sunny in the Baltimore area, with a high near 87 degrees and north winds at 7 miles per hour becoming easterly. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m.

Friday night was expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 74 and southeast winds around 6 miles per hour. There is a 30 percent chance of showers before 11 p.m.

Saturday was expected to be cloudy, with a high near 82 degrees and east winds of 6 to 9 miles per hour increasing to 22 to 25 miles per hour. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Rain amounts of one half to three quarters of an inch are possible.

On Saturday night, the weather service expects tropical storm conditions. The low temperature will be around 70. Northeast winds will range from 34 to 48 miles per hour, and winds could gust as high as 55 miles per hour. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Rain amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected.

A flash flood watch and a tropical storm warning are in effect.
