Series revealing challenges of immigrant teens in Baltimore schools win national award in education reporting

Education reporter Liz Bowie and photographer Amy Davis of The Baltimore Sun won a national award from the Education Writers Association for their series "Unsettled Journeys," which revealed the lives and challenges facing teenage immigrants at East Baltimore's Patterson High School.

They won the single-topic news or feature category, among newsrooms with large staffs, in the 2015 National Awards for Education Reporting.

"Unsettled Journeys" has previously won national awards in design and multimedia use from the Society for News Design.

The Education Writers Association has more than 3,000 members. It works to support and advance education reporting around the country.
