OAKLAND, Md. (AP) — Garrett County's public works department estimates that nearly 1,900 gallons of raw sewage leaked from a broken service line into a nearby stream and Deep Creek Lake.
The agency says in a statement that the leak was reported shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday along Mayhew Inn Road near Red Run Cove.
The statement says workers closed a valve to stop the spill by 11 a.m., and finished repairing the service line by 3 p.m.
The agency says warning signs have been posted in the area, including at docks along the lakeshore.
