Boy, 16, shot in third Catonsville-area shooting in a week

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm on Wednesday night in the third incident of gunfire in the greater Catonsville area since Saturday, according to Baltimore County Police.

Officers were called to a local hospital about 11:54 p.m. for a wounded person and located the boy with a gunshot wound to the arm, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicated the boy had been standing in the 5900 block of Robindale Road — north of Route 40 and the Westview Shopping Center, near Johnnycake Road — when he was shot once, police said.

The boy's injuries are considered non-life-threatening, police said.

An investigation is underway by the department's violent crimes unit. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-307-2020.

The shooting is the third incident of gunfire in the Catonsville area since Saturday. On Monday night, a man received non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the 100 block of Winters Lane, which is just south of Route 40 and the Westview Shopping Center.

On Saturday, two men were standing in front of a Shell station in the 5300 block of Edmondson Avenue, near the city line, when they were shot.

Cpl. John Wachter, a police spokesman, said the Edmondson and Winters Lane shootings were not related, and there is "nothing to indicate" that the shooting on Robindale Road is related to either of the earlier shootings, either.

"There is nothing to indicate at this time that anything is connected," Wachter said.
