'Graduations' mark five-year milestone for TowsonGlobal

On March 27, TowsonGlobal at Towson University is marking its fifth anniversary and recognized the achievements of six entrepreneurs who have turned ideas into real businesses.

During the Celebration of Entrepreneurial Success ceremony at the university, certificates of accomplishment will be awarded to the incubator's first graduates, which include:

Linda Seidel and Estelle Meister of Transcending Cosmetics — a company that was founded to market their proprietary product, Natural Cover, to makeup professionals and medical practitioners. Seidel works in the corrective/camouflage makeup field and developed her own formula.

David Ryan and Jacques Dompier of Chesapeake Compensation Solutions — a "boutique" consulting company that works with publicly and privately held companies and organizations in attracting, retaining and motivating employees.

Adam Nepp and Scott Wohler of NeWo Technologies — an electronic product development firm that specializes in concept to prototype design. The company has developed wireless transmission technologies with applications for athletics, defense and health care.

A TowsonGlobal incubator member company is considered prepared to graduate when it reaches particular milestones, which vary from company to company. These may include sales revenue, grant or investor funding levels, numbers of employees or space requirements.

Milestones are set in meetings between the entrepreneurs and a TowsonGlobal review committee, which is composed of TowsonGlobal Advisory Board members, external mentors, and staff.

Tuesday's event was scheduled to include comments from Baltimore County Executive Director of Economic Development Daniel Gundersen and Fred Lissauer, TowsonGlobal Advisory Board chairman and vice president of Global Export Business Development at McCormick & Co.
