Matthew Hankins, a Charles Village resident, says he was driving past the Old Boulevard Theatre on Greenmount and 33rd Street on Wednesday when he noticed the marquee on the front of the building had a new sheet of metal. The preservation carpenter and restoration shop supervisor then pondered the possibility of seeing the building transformed back into a movie theatre or something more than what sits there today.
So Hankins, whose deep admiration for historic buildings in the city shows in his Twitter feed, took to the social media platform to ask people to fantasize with him:
“Setting aside all realities of finances and personal responsibility, if you could purchase and renovate/restore one city building, which one would it be and what would you make it into?”
