Man, 19, killed in shooting in Waverly Monday night

A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in North Baltimore Monday night, police said.

Police found the man, who had been shot several times in the 600 block of E. 38th St. in the city's Waverly neighborhood, just after 8:30 p.m. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the shooting.

The Northern District and homicide detectives were called to the scene, and their investigation is ongoing. Police said an unknown assailant approached the man, shot him multiple times, and fled.

No suspect or motive has been identified, and anyone with information may call the homicide unit at 410-396-2100. The victim has not yet been identified.

The victim was the second teenager killed in Baltimore in less than a week. A 16-year-old was shot and killed in Coldstream Homestead Montebello in Northeast Baltimore Saturday night.

Police have not said that the two shootings are related.

In a separate incident on Monday, a man was shot in the leg around noon in the 1200 block of W. Baltimore Street, in between the Poppleton and Hollins Market neighborhoods. Police found the 25-year-old victim at a local hospital, where he had gone to get treatment.
