Firefighters trying to determine cause of heavy smoke in South Baltimore building

Baltimore firefighters were on the scene of a South Baltimore office building on Saturday, trying to determine the cause of heavy smoke.

Shortly after 11 a.m., firefighters responded to a call for smoke coming from a building in the 6400 block of Fort Smallwood Road in Hawkins Point, according to Blair Skinner, a department spokeswoman. The building is in an industrial park and houses multiple businesses.

There was one worker in the building and no injuries were reported, Skinner said.

Fire crews remained on scene at midday, monitoring the building and investigating the cause of the smoke, Skinner said. It was unclear whether there was a fire or any resulting damage.
