Possible lightning strike sends marble crashing through Baltimore City Hall

Tuesday's storm sent marble crashing through a glass ceiling at City Hall

A possible lightning strike to City Hall Tuesday sent marble crashing through the atrium, said Anthony McCarthy, spokesman for the mayor.

No one was hurt when two chunks of marble crashed Tuesday afternoon. The debris fell from molding on the roof and shattered panes in the atrium's glass ceiling.

"We're not sure on the estimate yet," McCarthy said. "We should have that within the next day or so."
