WEATHER

Hold on to your hat today, as blustery winds between 12 to 30 mph buffet the area and bring down those final stubborn leaves clinging to trees. It will be partly sunny with fall-like temperatures. Today’s high will be 55, with an overnight low of 32. Cooler weekend temperatures will make it good fireplace weather, if you’re lucky enough to have one.

Democratic Rep. John Delaney's lead grew over his GOP challenger Dan Bongino for the state's 6th Congressional District after the first day of absentee ballot counting. One outstanding county is expected to report its absentee count today. 

A 911 call from a Havre de Grace woman helped investigators track down and arrest Delvin Barnes, 37, who is accused of kidnapping Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, 22, from a Philadelphia street Sunday. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson. 

Fore Property Company wants to redevelop an industrial site on West Aylesbury Road in Timonium into a five-story building with more than 300 luxury apartments.

Maryland doctors would be finger-printed and continually monitored for criminal charges under draft legislation the state Board of Physicians plan to propose next year. 

Gregory Lawrence, who was terminated as acting chief of the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport’s fire and rescue department, has been ordered by administrative law judge Nancy E. Paige to be reinstated with back pay. Lawrence was the first African-American hired as deputy chief at the airport. 

More than a year after the repeal of capital punishment in Maryland, Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler says the state has no choice but to change the sentences of its remaining death row inmates.

A federal appeals court panel in Ohio upheld four states’ bans on gay marriage.
