Man arrested for allegedly firing a gun out of a car in Annapolis

Annapolis police arrested a man they say fired shots out of a car near the Harbour House public housing community Wednesday night.

Police say officers were called around 6:30 p.m. with a report that someone was shooting from a car near the Harbour House community, and found a car matching the description given leaving the area. The car stopped in the 800 block of Chesapeake Ave., and four of the car's occupants remained inside, except for one man who ran away while carrying a handgun, police said.

Officers chased the man and arrested him around 7 p.m. in a yard in the 800 block of Chesapeake Ave., while the gun was found in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Bay Ridge Ave.

The man was identified as Delvonta Wright, 22, of Severn. He faces several gun related charges and is accused of stealing the handgun. No attorney was listed for him in court records.
