Police find Annapolis couple passed out in car with infant

The parents of an 8-month-old were charged with child neglect after they were found Saturday passed out in the front seat of a vehicle in Annapolis as their infant son sat in the back, Anne Arundel police said.

Police officers responded to a call at 5:20 p.m. Saturday about the couple parked at a McDonald's on General's Highway.

Brooke Amber Michael and Michael Patrick May, both 20 and of 2056 Quaker Way in Annapolis, were unresponsive when officers arrived, police said. Paramedics had to physically wake up the pair.

Once awake, May struggled to hold his balance and his speech was slurred, police said. Michael's speech was slurred and she stumbled as she got out the vehicle.

Officers saw suspected synthetic marijuana from outside the car and when investigating further found packages of suspected "synthetic marijuana" known as "K2" and smoking devices inside of the vehicle, police said. Further lab analysis will be done on what was found.

The child was examined at Anne Arundel Medical Center as a precaution before being released to his grandfather.

The couple, which could not be reached for comment, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
