Two men charged in connection with Annapolis murder

Police charged two men this week in connection with the murder of a Calvert County man in Annapolis last year, and the charges indicate the victim was also robbed amid the fatal shooting.

Tahzay Brown, 24, of Glen Burnie, was arrested Sunday and charged with first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery, assault and other charges. Todd Brown, 25, of Annapolis, was arrested two days later and faces the same charges. Police did not say if the two men are related.

The charges stem from the April 2013 fatal shooting of John Donnel Ray, 32, of Huntingtown in Calvert County. Ray was found shot inside of a car in the parking lot of a condominium complex in the 200 block of Victor Parkway on a Sunday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not elaborate on how they linked Brown and Brown to the crime. Tahzay Brown was released after posting $500,000 bail. Todd Brown is being held without bail. The men did not have attorneys listed in court records.

Annapolis police said Ray's case had been the department's only unsolved murder in 2013.
