College hosts middle, high school career expo

The 21st Century Education Foundation, in partnership with Anne Arundel Community College, will sponsor its seventh annual Career Expo on March 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Jenkins Gymnasium on the college’s Arnold campus.

The expo will offer middle and high school students the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from local businesses about career opportunities, as well as learn about related courses that they can take to pursue specific career paths. The event is free.

Anne Arundel Community College advisers from a variety of departments will be available to talk with students about ways to prepare for their futures. Workshops with information about applying for college, preparing for success in college, getting a security clearance, and working in the public sector will also be offered.

The high school with the highest percentage of students in attendance will receive $500 from the 21st Century Education Foundation to support its signature program. In addition, the high school teacher with the highest number of students in attendance will receive $500 to support his or her instructional programs and initiatives.
