Man points gun at woman walking dog in Glen Burnie

A 21-year-old woman and her dog were threatened with a gun during a walk in Glen Burnie Saturday night, according to a news release from Anne Arundel County police.

At around 9:30 p.m., the victim was walking her dog near Home Water and Rain Water ways in the Cromwell Fountain apartment complex when she came across a man who was also walking his dog in the area, police said. As the woman approached the man, she saw him directing the gun at her dog and in her general direction. She left the area after briefly speaking with the man.

Police later located a man matching the victim's description at an apartment building in the 6500 block of Clear Drop Way, according to the release. A search of the suspect, which took place after police said he acknowledged walking his dog in the area, turned up a Ruger .22 caliber handgun and a set of nunchucks.

The hangun was loaded with six live rounds, but none had been discharged, the release said.

Norman William Walter Wieland, 46, of the 7200 block of Ohio Avenue in Hanover faces charges of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and several handgun charges in connection with the incident, police said.
