Annapolis election forums scheduled for Sept. 5, 12

Voters in Annapolis will have a chance to hear from candidates at two election forums.

The Sierra Club and the Anne Arundel League of Conservation Voters will hold a forum for candidates in contested primaries — including the mayoral race — at 7 p.m. Thursday. The forum, which will focus on environmental issues, will be held at Heritage Baptist Church on Forest Drive.

On Sept. 12, the Eastport Civic Association will hold a mayoral debate at 7 p.m. at Eastport Elementary School.

This fall, Annapolis voters will select a mayor, aldermen and representatives on the Democratic and Republican central committees.

Three Republicans and two Democrats — including incumbent Mayor Josh Cohen — are running for mayor. The primary election is scheduled Sept. 17.
