Two hospitalized after Glen Burnie fire

Two people were taken to hospitals after a two-alarm fire in Glen Burnie on Sunday afternoon, according to an Anne Arundel County fire spokesman.

The incident was reported at about 12:47 p.m. Sunday, in the 400 block of McLarin Drive, said the spokesman, Capt. James Rostek.

During the fire, the homeowner experienced a medical emergency and was taken to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment, he said. A bystander was also taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries after falling at the scene, he said.

It took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control, Rostek said. The cause is still undetermined, but the house is a total loss, with damage estimated at $200,000, he said.
