Lecture series

Anne Arundel Community College's Fall Sustainability Series, sponsored by the Physical Sciences Department, offers information, discussions, demonstrations of products and descriptions of services for students, individuals and businesses interested in sustainable systems. Presentations take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 18 in the Cade Center for Fine Arts, Room 207, on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Free.

Thursday, Nov. 11: "Nuclear Power: Clean-Air Energy," presented by UniStar Nuclear Energy of Baltimore.

Nov. 18: "Geothermal Power Generation," presented by EnergySource LLC.

Cybersecurity seminar

Matthew McDonald of Science Application International Corp. will talk about the training and education needed to advance in the field at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Anne Arundel Community College's Center for Applied Learning and Technology, Room 100 on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway, as part of the college's fall CyberTuesday seminars. "Community Observing Night," sponsored by the AACC Astronomy Club, begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. Bring your own telescope and binoculars or use one of the eight telescopes provided by the club to view planets, stars and the moon. Nursing scholarships

Through 2014, three Anne Arundel Community College nursing students will receive $3,000 scholarships through a program set up by Johns Hopkins HealthCare. The scholarships will benefit county residents enrolled in the college's registered nursing associate of science degree program who demonstrate financial need as established by the AACC financial aid office. Solar panel installation class

The Baltimore Building Congress and Exchange Foundation has donated $4,500 to Anne Arundel Community College Foundation Inc. to fund scholarships for those enrolled in the college's new solar panel installation class. The course is offered through Dec. 14. Information: 410-777-2056.
