Single seniors group The Single Seniors Group at Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie, encourages companionship, support and group participation in activities such as movies, dances, picnics and tours. Volunteer grandparents sought The Foster Grandparents Program of the county Department of Aging and Disabilities seeks volunteer grandparents to help mentor children with special needs. Volunteers serve 15 to 40 hours a week, providing mentoring, tutoring, advice and attention, teaching life skills to children in special education classes, staffing a homeless shelter, a family support center and other agencies. Activities may include reading stories, listening, helping children feed themselves, setting the table, working with puzzles, and helping children learn colors, numbers and the alphabet. Volunteers must be income-eligible and at least 60 years old. Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, vacation, sick leave, free transportation, lunch and a physical exam.
