Mother's Day breakfast

A French toast breakfast in honor of all mothers will be served at 9 a.m. May 10 at the Pasadena Senior Center, 4103 Mountain Road. Information: 410-222-0030.

Tea party

The Annapolis Senior Activity Center will hold a Mother's Day Tea at 1 p.m. May 10 at the center, 119 S. Villa Ave. Annapolis. Participants are asked to bring a tea cup and wear their "best" hat. Pianist Chin-San Wang will perform. Information and to sign up: 410-222-1818.

Flower and bake sale

The O'Malley Senior Activity Center will hold a flower and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the center, 1275 Odenton Road in Arnold. More than 20 vendors will offer items, including jewelry, quilted items, baskets and pottery. Vendor space is $10, and donations of baked goods will be accepted. Information: 410-222-4464.

Senior center trips

Anne Arundel County senior activity centers have announced their trip schedules and are accepting deposits. Trips vary per center and include day trips as well as cruises and extended bus trips.

To sign up, you must be a current senior center member with updated information in the database and a key. Membership is free.

Memoir writing The course, which teaches how to write an autobiography, will be held 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Arnold Senior Activity Center, 44 Church Road. There will also be an opportunity to learn listening and interviewing skills, writing tips and proofreading. Information and registration: 410-222-1922.

Spring Swing A dance, featuring music by DJ Larry Laser, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 12 at the Arnold Senior Activity Center. Line dance and ballroom music will be played. Free. Refreshments will be served. Information: 410-222-1922.

Health insurance A representative from the Senior Health Insurance Program is available by appointment to discuss health insurance concerns at the Arnold Senior Activity Center. Appointments and information: 410-222-1922.

Volunteer grandparents sought The Foster Grandparents Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities is seeking volunteer grandparents to help mentor children with special needs. Volunteers serve 15 to 40 hours a week, providing mentoring, tutoring, advice and attention, and teaching life skills to children in special education classes, staffing a homeless shelter, a family support center and other agencies. Activities may include reading stories, listening, helping them feed themselves, setting the table, working with puzzles and helping the children learn colors, numbers and the alphabet. Volunteers must be income-eligible and at least 60 years old. Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, vacation, sick leave, free transportation, lunch and a physical exam.
