Arnold man arrested, accused of shooting at sheriff's deputy

An Arnold man was arrested and charged with attempted murder Sunday morning, after police say he shot at a vehicle driven by an Anne Arundel County sheriff's deputy.

Police said that Rodney Divine, of the 900 block of Shore Acres Road, was arrested after he fired a .45 caliber pistol at a sheriff's office vehicle driven by Sergeant Sgt. Carl Schanberger, according to a statement issued by the Office of the Anne Arundel County Sheriff.

Sgt. Schanberger was at the Divine residence serving a warrant for robbery on Divine's daughter, Lauren A. Divine, when the incident occurred just before 8 a.m., the statement said.

Divine was arrested and charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment. Sgt. Schanberger was not injured, a spokesman for the sheriff's office said.
