Annapolis

COACH: Dustin McConnaughhay, 12th year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 8-8

KEY PLAYERS: Nick Bullen (Sr., M); Dane Hall (Sr., D); Erik Nelson (Sr., A); Sam Bullen (Sr., A); Michael Portillo (Sr., D); Aidan Madsen (Sr., D); Luke Mueller (Jr., LSM); Kyle Lemming (Jr., M); Nick Marsh (Sr., G); Josh Moorhead (Sr., M); Wylan Jensen (Sr., M).

OUTLOOK: The Panthers are working hard to improve on last year’s .500 record. McConnaughhay has a good mix of strong senior leaders and a talented younger group.

Annapolis Area Christian School

COACH: Luther Fleming, first year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 14-4

KEY PLAYERS: John Gage (Sr., M); Jeremiah Taylor (Sr., M); Kyle Coogan (Sr., D); Joey Dixon (Sr., D); Mason Fortlage (Jr., A); Dylin Borden (Sr., A)

OUTLOOK: The Eagles are looking to continue their success from last year when they advanced to the MIAA C Conference championship game. The team’s goal is to improve every day with hopes of winning the conference title after coming so close last year.

Archbishop Spalding

COACH: Brian Phipps, fifth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 7-10

KEY PLAYERS: Ryan McDaniel (Sr., D); Will Sherwood (Sr., M); Tucker Denault (Jr., M); Russell Melendez (Jr., A).

OUTLOOK: Spalding returns a good nucleus from the 2018 team. The Cavaliers have added some key players from the 2018 MIAA A Conference JV championship team. Spalding plays another tough schedule and will look to compete and have a successful year.

Arundel

COACH: Bobby Baur, first year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 10-6

KEY PLAYERS: RJ Chandler (Sr., M); Chaz Goodman (Sr., M); Thomas Moheiser (Sr., D); Carson Neiswender (Sr., M); Zach Taylor (Jr., A); Camden Buckley (Soph., D); Connor Newell (Soph., GK).

OUTLOOK:​ The Wildcats bring back a lot of familiar faces with a lot of athleticism. The team is driven with a lot of offseason work to make a run this season. They have a lot of senior leadership that has stepped up in the first weeks to embrace the tradition at Arundel.

Broadneck

COACH: Clay White, 33rd year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 12-6

KEY PLAYERS: Keegan Houser (Sr., M); Jack Bragaw (Sr., D); Vinny Facciponti (Sr. FO/M)

OUTLOOK: Facciponti, who will play at York College, produced 31 goals and won 70 percent of his faceoffs. Houser, who will be playing at Navy Prep, paced the Bruins with 50 goals and 16 assists for White, coaching in his final season, has produced 395 wins and won five state crowns during his tenure.

Chesapeake

COACH: Rodney Beres, 11th year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 8-7

KEY PLAYERS: Dylan Wolfe (Sr., A); Thomas Bullen (Sr., M); Nick Wells (Jr., M); Hunter Davis (Sr., LSM).

OUTLOOK: The Cougars return some scoring power from last year’s team and the defense returns four starters from last year’s young group. Beres (92-68) is eight wins from 100 in his career at Chesapeake.

Glen Burnie

COACH: Rick Deitchman, fourth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 6-8

KEY PLAYERS: Tyler Calderone (Sr., D); Chaston Downs (Sr., M); Stephen Frank (Sr., A); Jackson Hall (Jr., M).

OUTLOOK: With a core group of returning starters and an impressive group of juniors joining the varsity team, the Gophers look to take that next step forward and have their first winning season in over 20 years.

Indian Creek

COACH: Jason Werner, fourth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 14-5

KEY PLAYERS: Jonah Amin (Sr., M); Ryan Davis (Sr., D); Ronan Fanning (Sr., D); Sammy Carter (Jr., A); Michael DePaolis (Jr., D); Shaun Gerety (Jr., GK); Tyler Sheppard (Jr., M); Will Mercer (Fr., A).

OUTLOOK: The Eagles graduated key players at both ends of the field that helped carry them to back-to-back to conference championship appearances. They will rely on a veteran defense, led by Fanning and goalkeeper Gerety. The offensive unit returns its top scorer from a year ago in Carter, and will feature a mix of young and veteran talent.

Kent Island

COACH: Robert Woolley, second year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 13-3

KEY PLAYERS: Matt Bastian (Sr., A); Ricky Tubman (Sr., M); Brendan Wilburn (Sr., D); Wyatt Callaghan (Jr., GK); Bryan Heim (Jr., FO); Cole Kratovil (Jr., M); Kris Krause (Jr., D); Ethan Mollman (Jr., D); Stephen Ruffennach (Jr., M); Harrison Smith (Jr., A); Jordan Galloway (So., M); Jeremy Heath (So., D); Ke’Juan Johnson (So., SSDM); Matthew Burnside (Fr., LSM).

OUTLOOK: A more balanced team presents itself this year with a talent spread that starts from the back-end and shuttles itself through the midfield and into attack. With tremendous faceoff talent and goalkeeping, anything is possible. The supporting cast at these positions excites the Buccaneers for a run at the state championship this year. The Kent Island mentality is set at nothing less than a another state title.

Key

COACH: Peter Ludlam

RECORD LAST YEAR: 10-7

KEY PLAYERS: Graham Wood (Sr., A); Michael Haldeman (Sr., A); Hudson Smith (So., A); Ben Kahle (Jr., M); Jacob Greene (So., M); Christopher Bulmer (So., D); Owen Fleming (Jr., G).

OUTLOOK: Haldeman and Wood will pace a talented and experienced attack while Fleming returns in goal and Bulmer returns as a veteran long pole defender. The play of Smith and Greene should also spice of the team’s offense.

Meade

COACH: Aaron Courtney, first year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 0-13

KEY PLAYERS: Erwin Johnson (Jr., A); Malacai Davis (Sr., M); Kyle Stone (Sr., D); Christian Bowman (Sr., D); Aidan Pettyjohn (Sr., D); Fox Wilmot (Jr., D); Franklin Sorrells (Sr., D); Vince Matthews (Sr., M); Caspien Greger (Jr., G); Eugene Naguit (Sr., D).

OUTLOOK: The Mustangs expect to be strong defensively with a large returning group, led by second-team All-County Stone. With the two new additions of Davis and Johnson on offense, Meade will be looking to add some wins this year. Many of the guys have been working hard in the offseason to make this one of the best years for the Mustangs.

Northeast

COACH: Walt Blahut, fifth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 5-10

KEY PLAYERS: Tanner Bishop (Sr. A); Damian Wirth (Sr., A); Ryan Frick (Jr., A); Stephen Haley (So., A); Bennett Dia, (Sr., M); John Healy (Sr., M); Garrett Alexander (Sr., M); Alex Evans (Sr., M); Riley Pitt (So., M); Matt Anderson (Sr., D); Adam Brooks (Sr., D); Marshall Greenwood (Sr., D); Logan Bishop (Jr., D).

OUTLOOK: The Eagles look to replace two-time All-County selection Pat Martinek in goal, but they do bring back a talented defense that is guided by Anderson, Brooks, Bishop and Greenwood. Archbishop Spalding transfer John Healy, Diaz, and Pitt look to spark the offense with Bishop.

North County

COACH: Jeff McGuire, third year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 7-9

KEY PLAYERS: Chris Leslie (Sr., M); Cole Simmons (Sr., G); Austin Stanley (Sr,. M); Nick Battista (Jr., D); TJ Chapman (Jr., M); Trent Lewis (Jr., D); Colby Potwin (Jr., A); Zach Scott (Jr., M); Brice Thornton (Jr., A); Tyler White (Jr., D); Mark Zepp (Jr., A).

OUTLOOK: The Knights look to improve on last year with a solid foundation of multi-sport athletes. With a roster comprised of mainly seniors and juniors, there is no lack of leadership at this team's core.

Old Mill

COACH: Patrick March, third year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 7-9

KEY PLAYERS: Ethan Wilson (Jr., A); Michael Dorsey (Sr., LSM); Levi Garren (Sr., D); Colby Smith (Jr., M); Jeff Brown (Sr., M); Eddie Bringley (Sr., D): Ben Wilson (So., A); Zach Turner (So., A); Blake Fletcher (Jr., D); Stefan Bowser (Jr., M); Dawson Cawthrone (Sr., LSM); Rhys Weitzel (Sr., M); Micah Hurd (Sr., M); Eric Bringley (Sr., M); Justin Brown (Sr., M); Zach Kay (Sr., M); Sean Magness (Sr., M); London Wood (Sr., G); Will Wilbur (Sr. A); Trevon Sae-Tiew (Sr., M); Carlos Rivera (Sr. A).

OUTLOOK: The Patriots will look to improve on last season’s record with relentless competitiveness.

St. Mary’s

COACH: Victor Lilly, fourth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 11-6

KEY PLAYERS: Ian Krampf (Sr., A); Garrett Nilsen (Sr., A); Ryan Jones (Sr., M), Scout Ripley (Sr., M); Ethan Yorio (Sr. M); Alex Wicks (Jr., M); Patrick Dunleavy (Jr., M); BJ Burlace (Sr., D); Cal Hadley (Sr., D); Gavin Ridgeway (Jr., D); Will Tominovich (Jr., D); Jack Kerr (Sr., FO); Zach Dudley (Jr., FO).

OUTLOOK: The Saints must reload this spring as 20 seniors graduated from last year’s squad, although they do return some veteran leadership in Krampf, Nilsen and Jones among others.

Severn

COACH: Joe Christie, second year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 8 -7

KEY PLAYERS: Owen Cauley (Sr., D); Kain Domenech (Sr., M); Jon Jarosz (Sr., A); Gavin Johnson (Sr., M); Zack Kinsella (Sr., M); AJ McNemar (Sr., LSM); Henry Rentz (Sr., M); Colin Ervin (Jr., A); Blake Misner (Jr., M); Loukas Sotiropoulos-Lawrence (Jr., GK).

OUTLOOK: The Admirals return over half of their starters at attack and midfield and Christie thinks the midfield depth is the best it has been in the past few years. There are 14 seniors on the roster so their leadership and experience is strong. Severn will sport an athletic group that is physical and can run with anyone.

Severna Park

COACH: Dave Earl, fifth year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 17-2

KEY PLAYERS: Mikey Harmeyer (Jr., A); Jimmy Maher (Sr., A); Connor Panebianco (Jr., M); Cameron Bear (Jr., M); Wils Wood (Jr., A/M); Kyle Griffith (So., A); Joseph Killpatrick (Jr., M); Shane Carr (Sr., G); Ben Morgan (Jr., D); Matthew Alton (Sr., D); Marck Bredeck (Jr., D); Colin Shadowens (So., FO); Trent Bellotte (Jr., M); Niles Tinsley (Sr., M).

OUTLOOK: The Falcons graduated some serious firepower in Chase Cope, Josh Coffman and Jack Thomas, but the perennial county powerhouse returns loads of talent in the quest for a fourth straight state title.

Southern

COACH: Brendan Brace, 14th year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 8-9

KEY PLAYERS: Ryan Gilman (Sr., M); Chase Marshall (Sr., D); Colin Phipps (Sr., A); Timmy Wallis (Sr., D); Jake Williams (Sr., D); Tyler Woodfield (Sr., A); Dylan Caparella (Jr., M); Tucker Fanzo (Jr., A); Mikey Renzi (Jr., M); Bobby Ruel (Jr., M); Ryan Fleming (So., G).

OUTLOOK:​ After falling to the eventual state champion Marriotts Ridge in the region final, the Bulldogs will be in pursuit of another chance to compete in that same venue with an opportunity to advance to the state championship bracket. Despite graduating midfield talent, they are returning their defense and experience on attack.

South River

COACH: Colin Campbell, third year

RECORD LAST YEAR: 9-5

KEY PLAYERS: Nick Kendall (Sr., A); Eric Thibodeau (Sr., A); Ben Robertson (Sr., G) Grant Sauls (Sr., M); Aaron Stecklow (Sr., D); Nick Rehanek (So., D); John Kolinski (Sr., M); Nick Barton (Sr., M); Greg Usher (Fr., G); Jameson Gaskins (Jr., M); Dominic Mirack (Jr., D); Conor Chick (Fr., A).

OUTLOOK: Bolstered by a strong mix of athleticism, experience and talent up and down the lineup, Campbell believes this year’s squad should be highly competitive.
