Annapolis police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a shooting reported off West Street at the end of June.

Ronreques Johnson of Annapolis was charged Friday with attempted first- and second-degree murder, assault and handgun offenses.

Police were called to the 1800 block of West Street at 12:26 a.m. June 30 for a reported shooting. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on Edgewood Avenue between West Street and McGuckian Street. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

In a statement released Monday morning, police said they quickly identified Johnson as a suspect in the shooting. He was arrested Friday afternoon in Glen Burnie.

At the same time, police also served him with an outstanding warrant for charges relating to an armed robbery in Annapolis in December.

Johnson is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond. He is set for a bail review Monday morning.

No attorney has been listed as representing him, online court records show.
