Anne Arundel County Executive-elect Steuart Pittman named his future chief of staff and chief administrative officer Friday, tapping a fellow equine expert and an experienced government manager.
He selected Jennifer Purcell of Dunkirk as his chief of staff, an interim director of the Maryland Horse Council who has worked for a number of nonprofits, his campaign said in a media release Friday. For his chief administrative officer, he selected Ben Birge of Odenton, manager of Prince George’s County CountyStat program.
Purcell has 24 years of program management experience, the media release said, working with groups like the Unwanted Horse Coalition. She recently resigned from her spot on the Maryland Horse Council, Pittman’s transition team leader Chris Trumbauer said.
The CountyStat program Birge leads provides oversight to ensure the county is operating efficiently, according to the media release. He has worked for government for 25 years, primarily in budget and program analysis, the release said.
