A 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday after he crashed his car in Pasadena.
Firefighters responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of Hickory Point and Mountain Road at about 5:20 p.m., according to Capt. Russ Davies, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
Responders found a single vehicle had overturned and the crash had downed a nearby utility pole, Davies said.
The driver and only occupant was briefly trapped inside, and was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries, Davies said. He added that a helicopter was initially requested, but could not fly the man to the hospital because of the weather.
Roads in the area were closed for an extended period of time as crews cleaned up the downed wires, Davies said.
