Police say a 19-year-old Crownsville man died after he was shot Monday in Glen Burnie.

Anne Arundel County police said Prateek Kumar died after he was found shot in the 300 block of Highland Drive.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area at 3:57 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found emergency personnel treating Kumar, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not arrested a suspect in Kumar’s death.

Investigators said evidence collected at the scene and interviews with witnesses suggest he was known to the shooter.

Kumar had been out of jail for less than a month before his death, according to court records. He posted a $50,000 bond on Sept. 19 as he awaited a November trial on misdemeanor weapons charges.

Police are still searching for a suspect in the death of Jasmine Sherl Adams, a 29-year-old Severn woman whose body was found in the basement of her home on Hawk Court in August.

The department said Kumar’s death “is a very fluid and active investigation” and are asking anyone with information to call 410-222-4731 or leave tips anonymously at 410-222-4700.
