A fire in a single-family house in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday started in the kitchen and damages have been estimated at $150,000, Anne Arundel County Fire Department investigators said Thursday.

They determined it was accidental, according to a fire department news release.

Thirty-two firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City responded and brought the fire under control in 20 minutes as residents of the 500 block of Church Street looked on. Officials closed the street as firefighters battled the blaze.

A 41-year-old woman escaped the fire and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, department spokesman Lt. Erik Kornmeyer said Wednesday. There were no other injuries, but four adults and three children have been displaced and have been assisted by the Red Cross, the department said in a news release Thursday.

The fire left the small house steaming, with broken front windows. Firefighters in full gear dumped water bottles over their heads to cool off on the 92-degree day with a heat index of 102 degrees.
