Police: Three injured in Lothian crash

Three people were injured Thursday night after a driver crossed the center line on a road in Lothian and collided with an oncoming truck.

Police said Joyce Mercer, 27, of Upper Marlboro crossed the centerline about 6 p.m. while driving south on Mt. Zion Marlboro Road at Frank Moreland Place in Lothian.

Her Ford Focus struck a Ford F350 headed north on Mt. Zion Marlboro Road, police said.

Mercer and her brother, Brandon Mercer, 25, of Upper Marlboro, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Anne Arundel police said. Joyce Mercer was in stable condition, police said. Her brother suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the truck, Mark W. Mandley, 41, of Deale, was taken to Prince George’s County Trauma Center in Cheverly. Mandley had minor injuries, according to police.

Police said the preliminary cause appeared to be the driver of the Ford Focus’ failure to remain right of center.
