Dozens of firefighters from three jurisdictions put out a fire Monday afternoon in a single-family home outside Annapolis.
A county Fire Department spokesman posted on Twitter that firefighters arrived at the house in the 800 block of Bestgate Road about 3:37 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the house.
Within a short time, fire was through the roof. Forty-five firefighters from the county, Annapolis and Naval Academy departments were called to the scene. They set up a defensive operation to avoid having other buildings damaged.
The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, according to the department spokesman. Investigators have been called to the house.
No injuries were reported and no damage estimate was available. Photos of the building after the fire was extinguished show it burned to the rafters and framing.
Fire officials advised avoiding the area of Bestgate Road between Medical Parkway and the Westfield Annapolis mall. Bestgate Road was closed between Commerce Park Drive and Medical Parkway as of 5 p.m. Monday as cleanup and the investigation continued.
