From 1990 on, Martin O'Malley made the front page of The Baltimore Sun several times in his various positions. The first prominent mention of Martin O'Malley in The Sun from our archives was in 1990, when he lost a state Senate seat – his only loss.
O'Malley was born in Washington D.C. in 1963. Eighteen years later he graduated from Gonzaga College High School. In 1985, O'Malley graduated from the Catholic University of America.
His first venture into the political realm was in 1986 as a field director for Barbara A. Mikulski’s first Senate campaign. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1988, the same year he became the Baltimore Assistant State’s Attorney.
Below are several links the original articles from The Sun during memorable moments from his time as a Baltimore city councilman, mayor and two-term governor of Maryland.
