Three Maryland coaches were the highest-paid employees in the state last year

Who was the highest-paid employee in the state in 2015?

Maryland men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon remained the highest-paid state employee in 2015, according to records released by the Office of the Maryland Comptroller.

Turgeon’s current contract, which has three years remaining, calls for an annual salary of $2,567,000. 

Former Maryland football coach Randy Edsall, who was fired midseason, was right behind Turgeon at $2,380,000. 

Maryland women’s basketball coach Brenda Frese ranked third at $1,151,000.

Athletic director Kevin Anderson earned $583,000 last year.
