Man charged with stealing, texting pictures of woman's underwear

A 35-year-old Southeast Baltimore man has been charged with breaking into a woman's home, stealing her thong underwear and sending her taunting text message images of the pilfered panties, according to police.

The victim reported the break-in on Feb 2., saying that her rear kitchen door was pried open and cash, a gold necklace, a gold bracelet, and a pair of red underwear had been taken from her home in the 400 block of N. Lakewood Ave. She told police that she had received the jewelry from a man she knew as "Luis," who after the burglary sent her a text message that included a picture of the stolen panties.

According to The Baltimore Guide, which included the crime in its police blotter this week, the man continued to send her taunting texts and she eventually made arrangements to meet him and retrieve her thong.

"The man, whom she described as just a friend, showed up with the panties, while she showed up with uniformed officers, who arrested him," the Guide reported.

Police identified the man as Manuel Loja, of the 300 block of S. Lehigh St. He was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, and destruction of property.
