Randallstown man charged with killing 18-month-old son

A 41-year-old Randallstown man has been charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in connection with the death of his infant son.

Sheldon B. Brown was arrested on Thursday and was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. The victim was 18-month-old Stiles Brown, who on Jan. 31 was taken to a hospital with "multiple traumatic injuries," according to a police statement. The boy was pronounced dead on Feb. 4.

Investigators determined that Brown had been caring for his son at their home on the 9500 block of Branchleigh Road on the day the child was hurt but was "unable to provide an explanation for the injuries," police said.

An autopsy was conducted and in April detectives were notified that the child's death had been ruled a homicide.
