Baltimore police said a traffic accident Friday afternoon at Interstate 83 and Falls Road happened moments after a motorist drove at an officer, who fired his weapon.
Detective Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman, said the officer was blocking traffic on West 28th Street near the ramp to northbound I-83 about 1 p.m. when the driver of the vehicle attempted to maneuver past the officer.
Silbert said the officer discharged his weapon. It was not clear whether the driver was struck, but the vehicle continued onto I-83, then crashed after exiting onto Falls Road.
The driver, an adult male, was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Additional details, including why the officer was blocking traffic, were not immediately available.
