Man hurt in 2008 dies; shooting death reclassified

Baltimore Sun

City police say a man wounded in a prior year has died, while a separate homicide was removed from the total after investigators determined that a person was killed in an act of self-defense. Shannon Colbert, 32, of the 2200 block of Homewood St. was found lying on a sidewalk in the 1400 block of E. Preston St. on Aug. 14, 2008, with a gunshot wound to his side and wrist. On Nov. 24, police were notified by Johns Hopkins Hospital that Colbert had died. Police could not immediately provide a cause of death. Colbert is the sixth person since late November added to this year's homicide count who was injured in prior years. Police also said that the Nov. 15 shooting death of 18-year-old Josue Zelaya has been ruled accidental. A 19-year-old man, Roque Ramirez, faces manslaughter charges in connection with the shooting, which occurred in the 400 block of N. Glover St.
