Northeast Baltimore man, 28, charged in Woodlawn shooting

A 28-year-old man from Northeast Baltimore has been charged with attempted murder in a shooting early Saturday in Woodlawn, police said.

Clayton Thomas Jr., of the New Northwood neighborhood, is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Court records online did not list his attorney.

Just before 5 a.m. Saturday, a 32-year-old man was shot in his upper body outside Knights Inn Baltimore West on Security Boulevard, police said.

Investigators learned the victim was standing with a friend outside the inn when he was allegedly approached and shot once by Thomas, police said. The victim was hospitalized and has been released.

Thomas was found in a room at Knights Inn, police said.

Thomas and the victim didn't known each other, police said, so the reason for the shooting remains unknown.
