A Sanford, N.C., man charged in the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter may have fled with his teenage stepson to Maryland or Washington, D.C., the Federal Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.
The FBI released a wanted poster Thursday of Billy Jo McLean, 54, who faces first-degree murder charges and "should be considered armed and dangerous," officials said.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound black man was last seen driving a silver 2001 Ford Windstar van with North Carolina license plates, No. CJX6906.
McLean is thought to have kidnapped his 17-year-old stepson, Tobias, the FBI said. He is charged in the deaths of his wife, Calandra, and his 13-year-old stepdaughter, TaShonna. Firefighters found their bodies Monday in an apartment after a resident reported smelling a strong odor of gasoline.
Investigators say Calandra McLean's body was found bound with duct tape and her daughter's body was found in a bathtub. There was no sign either of them had been shot.
