Baltimore Police on Monday identified the two officers involved in a fatal shooting of a man last week as Officers Warren Benn and Christopher Thomas.
Benn has worked for the department for 16 years and Thomas for six years. Both officers are assigned with the Operational Intelligence Section, police said.
Benn and Thomas responded to reports of gunfire in the 2300 block of Winchester Street on July 14. Police shot and killed a man who it said opened fire on officers with an AR-15-style rifle.
Police believe the gunman was acting alone.
The shooting was the ninth officer-involved shooting in 2016. Four of the incidents involved a fatal wound and five were non-fatally shot.
