An 18-year-old man who is part of the Baltimore City Police Department's explorers program has been charged with impersonating an officer at Eastpoint Mall on Wednesday, officials said.
Savon Shakur Hamilton, of the 4400 block of Maple Shade Drive in Orchard Ridge, was wearing a gold badge from the program, which introduces young people to law enforcement careers, Baltimore County Police said.
He also had a BB gun in a holster and a baton attached to his belt, as well as a portable radio, police said. In his car, police said they found a stun gun. He was charged with impersonating a police officer and posession of an electronic control device and released on $10,000 bail.
