A Prince George's County police officer is accused of taking upskirt pictures of women, some of which occurred during traffic stops, police said.
Suspended officer James Sims was indicted by a county grand jury on Thursday on two counts of misconduct and four counts of illegal surveillance, police said. Further charges are possible because the investigation is ongoing.
In June, Sims photographed an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction at the Sports Authority in Bowie, police said. Her complaint sparked an internal investigation, which found Sims used his phone to take inappropriate photographs of four women between May 2015 and June 2016. Two incidents occurred during traffic stops, as well as at a Chipotle in Bowie, police said.
Sims worked for the department since 2010. He was a patrol officer in District I at the time of his suspension.
Prince George's County police are asking anyone with information about the officer or the case to call 301-856-2660.
