A 30-year-old Baltimore man was convicted of first-degree murder and four handgun crimes in the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found four years ago in a wooded area of the Frankford neighborhood
A jury on Thursday found Ronald Cornish guilty of the Nov. 7, 2012, shooting death of Warren Boone, 26, of Pikesville. Groundskeepers had found his body at the edge of a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 5100 block of Goodnow Road. Boone had a bullet hole on the side of his neck, authorities said.
Cornish and Boone had met for a drug transaction, according to the Baltimore State's Attorney's Office. Cornish shot Boone twice and dragged his body into the woods, then stole the victim's car and burglarized his home the next day, the office said. Cornish then set the car on fire in Baltimore County, according to the State's Attorney.
Investigators were led to Cornish because, unbeknownst to him, Boone's cell phone was in his car, according to the State's Attorney. Phone records placed the phone was near Cornish's address after Boone was killed, and later near the victim's home and then at the site were the car was set afire.
Cornish will be sentenced on November 30, 2016.
