Maryland State police have charged a 28-year-old woman who wielded a machete and demanded cash and cigarettes at several Cecil County convenience stores this month.
Police arrested Sarah Beth Clendaniel as she attempted to rob the High's at 3155 Joseph Biggs Memorial Highway near North East Tuesday night, and have connected her to other robberies in the area. Officers on Tuesday also arrested her alleged accomplice, Allen Lynn White, 59, who waited outside the store in truck.
Police said they recovered the machete and other items linking Clendaniel to several other robberies, including the Pantry 1 Mart near Rising Sun on March 21 and March 25, and another robbery at the High's on March 22.
In each case, store employees told police the suspect was a woman with a machete, demanding cash and cigarettes. No injuries were reported.
Clendaniel and White, both of the 400 block of Champlain Road in North East, face armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault and attempted theft charges. Neither had an attorney listed in online court records.
