Man found shot in the head Sunday evening.

A crime scene technician crouched down to swab a blood-stained East Baltimore sidewalk, where a 26-year-old man was shot to death in the second of two shootings on the city's east side Sunday, police said.

Officers were called at 4:01 p.m. to the corner of Kennedy Avenue and E. 20th Street in East Baltimore Midway, where they found the man shot in the head, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. Homicide detectives were investigating, and anyone with information may call 410-396-2100.

Investigators picked up several bullet shells from the sidewalk, and also peered for clues at a discarded carry-out food container and a full soda can that burst open in the Sunday afternoon heat.

The shooting is the most recent in a string of shootings in the neighborhood.

Police found more than 22 bullet casings in the nearby 2200 block of Aisquith St., where three people were shot in a hail of gunfire Thursday night. The previous week, on June 23, a 51-year-old man was shot in the 800 block of E. 20th St., two blocks away from Sunday's shooting.

Another man, a 23-year-old, was shot multiple times in Madison-Eastend Sunday morning, police said. Officers found him in the 800 block of N. Lakewood Ave. at about 5:15 a.m., police said. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and his condition was not released.

Eastern District detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-396-2433.
