FREDERICK, Md. — Frederick police say a man has been arrested for leaving an infant locked inside a hot car for at least 20 minutes.
Police say the infant was saturated with sweat and hot to the touch when firefighters removed the infant from the car on Saturday morning on North Market Street. The baby was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Police say the infant was unattended for 20 to 25 minutes. The car's ignition was off, and the windows were cracked.
The infant's guardian, 44-year-old Ismaila Blay, was arrested and charged with child neglect and confining an unattended child.
Blay was released on bond on Sunday. Online court records do not list an attorney for him, and a working phone number for him could not be located.
