An 18-year-old man was found shot in Columbia Wednesday night, Howard County police said.
Police were called at 9:40 p.m. in the 6000 block of Majors Lane in Columbia, where they found Jaron Tyrik McPherson, of Columbia, suffering from a gunshot wound. McPherson was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and remains in critical condition.
Officers were called after a witness heard gunfire and found McPherson on the ground.
Other witnesses in the area told police they saw three suspects running from the scene. They described them as black men, who appear to be in their late teens or early 20's, between 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. One was wearing a light-colored hoodie and the other two were seen in dark t-shirts and dark pants.
Police searched the area using a helicopter and K-9 units, but did not locate a suspect and have not determined a motive.
