A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Ellicott City on Saturday night, and Howard County police said they have obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 4200 block of Montgomery Road for a report of a shooting. They found a man shot in his parked vehicle.

Jacob Robert Mauer, 20, of Haycarriage Court in Ellicott City was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy and 20-year-old woman were among the victims overnight. The boy died; the woman's injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said in a statement Sunday that detectives believe the victim was sitting in the car behind a building using drugs with two others. They believe that one of the other men shot Mauer and then fled.

The area is near Long Gate Shopping Center, which houses numerous stores including Target and Safeway.

Police said they have obtained an arrest warrant for Rane Dellinger, 20, of Autumn Hill Drive in Ellicott City. Dellinger is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony, and handgun on his person, according to police.
