He was watching TV then went into the bathroom and came out with the hatchet, police said. After the attack, police said, he fled with the woman's purse. The victims were hospitalized and released. Police said they found the hatchet and purse nearby, but $150 was missing.

Officers found Hunt in the basement of the home where he stayed on Grovethorn Road. He appeared holding another knife and cut his own neck, police said.

He fell and dropped the knife, but then lunged for the knife and toward the officer, who fired one shot, police said.

She was identified only as Officer Andujo, assigned to Essex, who has served one year and a half with Baltimore County Police.
